Mental Disharmony

If we don't live the life we believe, we will end up unhappily believing the life we live.

Moody Institute of Science experimented to put a special pair of lenses that made everything appear upside down to analyze mental distress! In an experiment the founder of theInstitute, Irwin Moon, wore these glasses every day and night for three weeks, and slept with his eyes covered so that he never looked at anything without wearing these lenses. After three weeks his mind converted everything so things appeared the right side up!

The mind does a similar thing when we live out of harmony with God's directives. For example, the alcoholic denies his alcoholism. The person who
consistently lies, ends up believing his own lies. And criminals often justify what they have done by telling themselves that the people they victimized deserved it!

We do this because if we consistently go against what we know to be right, we get into what is called cognitive dissonance, which, simply put, means mental disharmony. And, not being able to live with this distress, we will change our beliefs to match our behavior. This way we justify whatever it is we want to do.

It's true, if we don't live the life we believe, we will end up unhappily believing the life we live. It's a dangerous course to follow. Another way of saying it is, we end up with a dead conscience and a hardened heart.

Dear God ..

help me never to deny any negative and/ or sinful behavior ..
but be honest with myself and admit it when what I am doing is wrong ..
so that I can always live in a state of mental harmony ..

One day, Death encountered a man and told him:

- Today's your last day.

The man replied:

- But I am not ready!

Death said:

- Your name is at the top of my to-do list for today.

The man said:

- Alright then… before you take me along, let's sit together and have
one last cup of coffee.

Death said:

- Of course.

The man offered a cup of coffee to Death; the coffee was laced with
some sleeping pills ..

Death drank the coffee and soon it was fast asleep ..

The man took Death's to-do list, wiped his name from the top and
placed it at the bottom of the page.

When Death woke up, it said:

- You've treated me so kindly and with full of love today. I would
like to reciprocate you by starting my today's work from the names at
the bottom of my list.

Sometimes some things are written in your fate. No matter how hard you
may try to change them, they never change ..

The crow and the parrot were both created ugly. The parrot protested
and was made beautiful. However, the crow remained content with the
will of its Creator. Today the parrot is in a cage and the crow flies
free ..

Behind each incident is so exquisite a wisdom that maybe you will
never understand it.

Therefore ..

Never ask "Why?" to the Creator.

"خوبصورت موڑ"

چلو اِک بار پھر سے ، اجنبی بن جائیں ھم دونوں
نہ میں تم سے کوئی اُمید رکھوں ، دلنوازی کی
نہ تم میری طرف دیکھو ، غلط انداز نظروں سے

نہ میرے دل کی دھڑکن لڑکھرائے ، میری باتوں سے
نہ ظاہر ھو ، تمہاری کشمکش کا راز نظروں سے

تمہیں بھی کوئی الجھن روکتی ھے پیش قدمی سے
مجھے بھی لوگ کہتے ھیں ، کہ یہ جلوے پرائے ھیں

میرے ھمراہ بھی ، رُسوائیاں ھیں میرے ماضی کی
تمہارے ساتھ بھی ، گزری ھُوئی راتوں کے سائےھیں

تعارف روگ ھو جائے ، تو اُس کا بُھولنا بہتر
تعلق بوجھ بن جائے ، تو اُس کا توڑنا اچھا

وہ افسانہ جسے انجام تک لانا ، نہ ھو ممکن
اُسے اِک خوبصورت موڑ دے کر، چھوڑنا اچھا

چلو اِک بار پھر سے ، اجنبی بن جائیں ھم دونوں
